Do you want to help your baby have the best smile and oral health possible? If so, then our Blue Hill Dental dental team is more than happy to help you do so. We have some beneficial tips that can help you keep your baby’s teeth and gums in tip-top shape; those tips are:

Use fluoride: Fluoride is a beneficial mineral that can help strengthen and nourish your baby’s little chompers. So, it’s best to give your child fluoridated water, like water from your tap, once they come of age. You can give them water by mixing it with their formula or by giving them a bottle or sippy cup of water. To know how much water to give your child, please contact your pediatrician.

Clean their smile: Use a little baby’s toothbrush and clean your baby’s little teeth twice a day. You don’t need toothpaste quite yet—just use water. The toothbrush should have soft bristles, a small head, and a long handle. To find out when to introduce toothpaste, call Dr. Hetal Rana and our dental team.

Be careful with bottle feedings: If you tend to fill your baby’s bottle with sugary liquid, your child may be vulnerable to baby bottle tooth decay. So, make sure you only put breastmilk, formula, and water in your child’s bottle. Also, do your best to avoid sending your child to bed with a bottle.

Doing these things will help your baby grow into the strong and healthy smile they deserve.
